Babies with Down syndrome
Down Syndrome Training & Support Service Ltd.
Our charity was founded in 2000 when my son, who happens to have Down syndrome, was 2 years old. Over the years we have grown to support 420+ families and over 200 organisations living and working with babies, children and young people with Down syndrome and their families. We provide a vast range of support and training.
Our aim is for children with Down syndrome to live their best life and achieve their full potential - we aim for inclusion and education in a mainstream school.
There are 5 training modules on our website aimed at maternity staff and health visitors. They are only 15 to 20 minutes long and free to download. The first is about meeting a baby with Down syndrome and their parents. You will meet baby Sam and Orla.
Giving a new baby and their family the best positive support possible around diagnosis and birth (whichever order that comes in) is vital to the wellbeing of the family. Every mother remembers the minute detail of birth and the first few days - we have to get it right. These videos will help. Follow the link below of contact me at our centre in Bingley 01274 561308
