We want to hear your ideas and views on how the money from the sale of Shipley Hospital should be spent.

Usually, 50% of the proceeds from the sale would be reinvested locally by NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and the other 50% would be returned to the Department of Health and Social Care. We want to see that money coming back into the local health economy and are working with stakeholders to try to retain up to 100% of the proceeds for local investment.

Shipley health, wellbeing and community campus

Architect's sketch of a modern buildingLocal charity The Cellar Trust has been successful in a bid for £3million funding from The Towns Fund to develop a Health, Wellbeing and Community Campus in Shipley.

This funding will change the way in which mental health and wellbeing services are delivered in Shipley and how they connect with the people who need them, so that people receive appropriate, holistic support which meets their needs. After considering a number of sites, the existing Cellar Trust building at Farfield Road has been selected as the most suitable location from which to provide key facilities and support services, with the funding available.

The aim of the HWCC is to develop a vibrant community-led hub offering a wide range of joined up support services, delivered by a skilled workforce and team of volunteers to engage, assess and motivate people and give them the tools to improve their wellbeing.

Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership hope to use the proceeds from the sale of Shipley Hospital to support additional development, to enable delivery of NHS services from the site. This would maximise the impact of the investment being made into Shipley.

  • We want to hear from local communities about what services they would like to see delivered from the health, wellbeing, and community campus.
  • We want to understand how investing in the project could benefit the local population and hear about any concerns that people may have.
  • We are open to hearing about alternative ideas for how the proceeds from the sale of Shipley Hospital could be used.

We will share your views with NHS Property Services and NHS England, who will then use this to determine how we can reinvest proceeds from the sale in line with national guidance.
