Our COVID-19 response
This involvement project has ended
COVID-19 has impacted all communities across Bradford District and Craven. This page is place for you to connect with us, share your ideas and tell us what we can do better to improve your health outcomes and the outcomes of the wider population.
Please go ahead and get stuck in! We want you to tell us how we can better reach the communities that need us the most.
What we're working on
Together with Masira from Bradford's Women's Health Network, and Dr Virginia Beckett consultant gynaecologist and lead for reproductive medicine at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, we created a series of videos about the COVID-19 vaccine, answering questions from the community.
You can watch more videos on the CCG YouTube channel.

Do you prefer drop-in clinics? Or appointments?
over 2 years agoAt our involvement workshop we discussed a need for more of a drop-in presence at community venues as well as GP surgeries. Drop-in sessions could take place regularly in different local places depending on the need. Interpreters and appropriate resources would be key, depending on which area the drop-in session was.
Do you agree? Do you have a venue in mind? Or perhaps you have a different idea? Share with us
Jen Brookover 2 years agoMake GP booking times twice daily (8am or midday). Appts choice of slots (eg. AM or PM) over next 36 hours
The once daily booking system for GP telephone appts assumes an 8am to 5pm lifestyle. It excludes anyone who cannot be by a telephone at that time of day -asleep due to shiftwork or known sleep disorder, somewhere without any privacy (eg. on a bus, operating a checkout, with client who can't be left, teaching), unsafe to have a telephone (eg. driving or operating machinery, in a 'clean' area). With remote working more common, the difference between manual and 'office' worker is starker. There are links with affluence or deprivation. Once daily is also difficult for anyone who needs support or assistance making or receiving telephone calls, due to disability or language barrier. Support workers or relatives may not be available at that one time of day.

People who work need to be considered. Drop in clinics that operate in the evenings and weekends.
0 comment1Jen Brookover 2 years agoDrop-in/ pop-up clinics in the city should be 'ringfenced' to a community or group of people
The ringfenced group could be people who work in a different town or city, not just a geographical community. Could be advertised by which interpreters are available, so targeted at communities by ethnicity or nationality.
0 comment1Jen Brookover 2 years agoCommunicate location, date & time of all pop-up/ drop-in clinics to BMDC Parking Services management
In the past, some drop-ins/ pop-ups have been dominated by people who have access to a car. Sometimes the area suffers obstructive parking/ waiting with drivers sat engine idling for their passengers (illegal). Blue Badge holders are permitted to park on double yellows so requesting parking enforcement should not negatively impact them.

Sophiealmost 3 years agoPop-up clinic at my local place of worship
I think a pop-up clinic at my place of worship would mean community members who aren't registered at a GP can come along and receive the vaccine at their convenience.

0 comment2Jen Brookover 2 years agoDistribute vaccination sites in local pharmacies across the city & district
Bradford city centre has three & residents can get (non-vaccine) GP appts fairly easily. Other areas GP surgeries are doing most of the vaccination & residents cannot get any (non-vaccine) GP appts for weeks. Citizens should not be forced to travel to get a vaccination appt. Barely anyone is wearing a face covering on public transport. Driving puts cars on the road adding to toxic pollution.

Citizens are going without regular prescription medication because review appointments aren't available for weeks. Can medication reviews be done centrally, or by pharmacists?
